Week 38

My mom and dad arrived on Saturday and we have been getting ready for baby ever since. We have the new double stroller set up, the matching infant car seat ready to go, and the baby crib prepared.

I went to the hospital today for some pre-cesarean procedures. I got my blood drawn, filled out paperwork, gave a urine sample, and almost fainted! I guess I should have eaten a bigger breakfast.

I check in to the hospital at 6:00 am tomorrow morning and baby will be born at 7:30 am. I am a little excited and a little nervous.

Here is one last belly pic...
Next time I post, it will be to introduce you all to our new baby girl or boy!

Week 37

Well - it is almost time to meet Baby Number Two. Week 37 finds baby practicing inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid, very likely sucking his or her thumb, and pivoting from side to side.
I went to the doctor yesterday. I weigh 150.0 pounds and my belly is measuring 38 cm. I am also 1 cm dilated so baby could arrive any time now. However if not, I check into Providence Hospital at 5:30 am on Wednesday April 21st to meet my new little bundle of joy!

Something very special that happened this week... my class held a baby shower for me. We had pizza, cupcakes, juice and a big SURPRISE (my students and their parents bought us the sit and stand stroller that I wanted). It is awesome and I can't wait to use it, especially when we travel this summer!

Here are baby's new wheels:
I think it is so cool that this stroller can be used in four different ways! Avrey can sit or stand on the back while baby's car seat sits up front.

I feel so blessed and a little overwhelmed by the generosity of those who surround me. I work in the best school on earth, teach the best students on earth, and am lucky enough to have the most supportive parent group on earth! Life could not be better.

Week 36

I went to the doctor today. I weigh 149 pounds and my blood pressure is normal at 120/60. My belly is measuring 36 cm (which is right on track as the measurement should closely match the number of weeks pregnant that I am). Baby's heartbeat registered at 135 bpm and Doctor Morhain (sitting in for Dr. Saprykina; she is out of town this week) estimated the baby is just under 7 pounds.

15 days and counting...

Week 35

Not much to report...

Baby and Mama are still doing great. I just know the next three weeks are going to fly by.

This week baby is busy putting on weight and feeling a little cramped. Baby's kicks and punches are a reassuring sign that all is going well though.

I visit the doctor next week so I will be sure to post another update then.

Week 34

Yesterday morning I went for a sonogram (probably my last one unless we decide to have another bambino) to check if baby was is in the head down position. Turns out this baby is a lot like its momma (prepares for big events early) because he/she is in fact head down and ready to go. From the sonogram Dr. Saprykina could tell that baby's back is on my left side and his/her legs and arms are on my right side. She also took many measurements of the baby and estimated his/her weight to be 5 pounds and 2 ounces so baby should definitely be ready to be born in three to four weeks. Baby's heartbeat was registering in the 130 beats per minute range which is a little slower than the last appointment.

Sorry - no sonogram pics this time though. It was actually pretty challenging to understand what I was seeing on the sonogram screen this appointment since baby is almost fully developed. Instead of looking at baby's entire body I was just able to view certain parts at a time. Dr. Saprykina was very helpful though, she would say things like "here is baby's leg" and "this is baby's arm" and then I was better able to picture what I was viewing.

It was great to see baby one more time before he/she arrives in 28 days.
