This week Scott and I went for our Ultrascreen Appointment at 11 weeks and 3 days pregnant. The screening included a sonogram of the baby and a finger prick blood test. The sonogram was amazing - we got to see the baby move again, saw fluid in the baby's stomach and kidneys so we know the digestive system is functioning, saw the heart beating, two arms, two legs, and a cute little tip of a nose. This time the baby's heartbeat was 155.

It seems to me, that in mentioning the baby's functioning digestive system, you conveniently neglected to include the fact the fetuses develop their digestive tracts by swallowing amniotic fluid -- which, as it happens, is the same fluid that contains the byproduct of their developing excretory system. So essentially, babies develop their digestive systems by drinking their own pee. Let's commit to using this blog to telling people what they really want to hear.
